Atara Cummings named Fall ’17 Disruptive Leader of the Year

In January, Atara Cummings was named the Fall ’17 Disruptive Leader of the Year. Atara is a Freshman at Pebblebrook High School and received a perfect grade in Ms. Shani Moore’s (UNL Alum) Leadership Academy Seminar.

After participating in Seminar, Atara boasted, “UNL has taught me leadership skills and helped me to develop my talents to use in the real world and future endeavors. I also gained knowledge on how to prepare for college and my career.” Her future plans are to be an Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist. She gained interested in this career field after interacting with a PT while recovering from an injury.

Atara enjoys school and participating in extra-curricular activities like cheerleading and orchestra. She excels at orchestra and science. “I want to pursue my future career in the healthcare field, because science is fun and rewarding to learn.” Like most of us, she has challenges that she faces head first with confidence and determination, such as her high school Spanish class. Atara is a successful, well-rounded student that UNL is proud to have as a part of our Seminar program. We look forward to watching her continue to grow as a leader and can’t wait to see the potential she unlocks next.
