Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work behind the scenes at a high-energy, fast-paced, international designer fashion show? Recently, Saks Fifth Avenue gave Atlanta Leadership Academy Youth and MITs the unbelievable experience of helping out behind the scenes at the Saks/Ralph Lauren Fashion Show held at Atlanta’s beautiful St. Regis Hotel. From prepping looks, styling models, setting tables, and stuffing gift bags— our youth worked hard to make sure the event was a success!
Here’s what MIT Jasmine had this to say about it:
“Volunteering behind the scenes at the Ralph Lauren event was an exhilarating and refreshing experience. We not only got a chance to look at how big marketing events like these work, but also see the importance of partnerships as demonstrated by the partnerships between both Usher’s New Look & Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks Fifth Avenue & Ralph Lauren. Dressing the models backstage was the most fun for me because it’s such a fast paced environment, which was right up my alley. This was an especially great opportunity considering I am a marketing major who is three semesters away from graduation. Big thanks to UNL and Saks for the amazing opportunity.”
Chastity, a 3rd year member of the Leadership Academy, also reflected on the experience saying:
“Considering that fashion has been a huge interest of mine, I really enjoyed myself. I would love to have this experience again. I feel as though I’ve obtained one of my goals. I’ve always wanted to know what goes on behind the scenes of a fashion show, and I was lucky enough to get that first hand. Thank you for presenting me with this amazing opportunity.”
Thank you Saks for allowing our youth to experience this fantastic opportunity to gain unique career experience in the realms of fashion, marketing, event planning, and more. We are very grateful!
