On February 12, 2016 UNL Detroit partnered with Accenture for a career exposure day. Students learned how to decide which college best fits their vision and passion, the do’s and don’ts of social media posting, and each participated in individual mock interviews with the Accenture team.
Accenture team member, Nick, told us, “This was my first time volunteering with Usher’s New look and I’m really glad I was able to do it. We got a great group of students here and we were able to give them some pretty valuable advice as far as choosing the right college, what to expect once you get into college so on and so forth. They have bright future ahead of them. Happy to volunteer.”
12th grade Detroit student, Sierra, said, “Today I learned that anything you post on social media can come back to you and bite you in the butt. If you talk about your job, that can get you fired and you cannot remove anything off the internet. ”
Accenture Work Place Lead, Colleen, said, “I’ve partnered with Usher’s New Look for I think three plus years now. We love having everybody out to the office. We focused a lot on helping students find the right college, as well as how to best keep your social media profile up to date so that you don’t do anything that might embarrass you later on as your looking to find a college. It was a great day. A nice snowy day, but good participation by all of the students here today. We love having them. ”
