Two New Programs Starting at McLaughlin Middle School This Fall
LAKE WALES | Students at McLaughlin Middle and Fine Arts Academy got a peak at a musical future Thursday and today with a little help from a Grammy winner’s foundation.
James Harris, board member of R&B singer Usher’s New Look Foundation, and Shanti Das, a music industry executive and marketing consultant who has worked with music groups including OutKast and TLC, are spending two days at the school to introduce the students to what awaits them when school resumes this August.
What awaits are two classes: Music Industry Leadership 101 and Rock ‘n’ Roll Academy.
Usher’s New Look, a non-profit foundation sponsored by R&B singer Usher Raymond IV, developed the curriculum for Leadership 101 that will teach students how to create a personal brand and develop leadership qualities.
