2013-MKE Holiday Bike Building Service Project-learning how to build

“This holiday season, the New Look Milwaukee chapter volunteered at North Division High School to help in the bike shop. We were there to help repair and improve used bikes to give away to families for the Christmas holiday. I enjoyed learning about the hard work and dedication it took to maintain a bike. Also, I was impressed to know how many people in the city chose to ride bikes year round or during the winter and how much money they save. My entire perspective for riding a bike has changed. I understand it is a great use for exercise, affordable, better for the environment and it is another sector of Milwaukee that is giving back inside of North Division.

2013-MKE Holiday Bike Building Service Project-Markeevan Washington 1

Second year Academy youth, Markeevan Washington, said, ‘This experience gave me a new outlook on one- fixing bikes and two- giving to people in need. I will continue to work with the Bike Federation because it was not only fun, but also educational.’

Usher’s New Look of Milwaukee will donate the 6 bikes they restored to St.Charles Youth and
Family Services, which provides social services throughout Southeast Wisconsin. This will bring holiday cheer to the families and the agency children who will benefit from this selfless act.”
