New Look’s peer-to-peer training model seeks to develop global youth leaders who will ultimately give back to Usher’s New Look through service in order to help us build up more like-minded individuals. New Look Alum, Malia Murray, is doing just that! Read more about her new initiative called S.T.A.N.D below!
“I just graduated college and decided it’s time for me to do more to give back to Usher’s New Look!” said Malia Murray to New Look Atlanta youth at Saturday’s Academy session. Malia, a recent graduate of the University of Georgia and now a New Look alumni, has partnered with her UGA classmate, Malcolm Mitchell, to launch a book club for all the high school juniors in the Atlanta Academy. The book club is called S.T.A.N.D. (Start Taking A New Direction) and will help motivate and prepare students for higher education and career. Over the next few months, New Look Atlanta 11th graders will be reading The Energy Bus — 10 rules to fuel your life, work, and team with positive energy. They will be utilizing Google hangouts to discuss and keep everyone updated on the book. Board Member Anne Sapp was present for the launch and lent a helping hand in making Malcolm and Malia’s vision come to life by donating the books that the youth will be reading. Thank you Anne and great work Malia. Your New Look family is proud of the leader you have become!
