On Saturday morning, youth from our Atlanta high schools met up for their bi-monthly New Look Academy meeting at Emory University. The youth began the day by introducing themselves and demonstrating their sparks to the entire group. From singers to poets, dancers, artists, musicians, fashion designers, a few actors and even a future president of the United States, the room was full of endless talent!
After introductions, business owner Laura Castillo of iSolv Technology Solutions spoke to the group about how she found her career pathway and the importance of staying true to your dreams. She emphasized to the youth that you should never get discouraged if you don’t know exactly what it is you want to do with your future, but rather look at all the options you have. One youth from Atlanta’s Westlake High School, QJ Brown, told the group, “Today I learned I can accomplish more than one goal in my life. I can do it all.” Briana Thomas from Banneker High School thanked Laura for empowering her by showing that women can be accomplished and driven leaders in the corporate business world.
At the end of the day, in the tradition of New Look, the youth gave Laura her own UNL code name: “BOSS LADY”
Thank you Laura for coming out to our Academy and inspiring our youth by sharing the story of your tremendous success!
