At New Look, we connect our students with the best mentors in the business. We call them our network of spark-starters; Personal brand-ambassadors. These are the people who invest in our students and guide them towards the career field of their choice. James Andrews is one of these people. A former record executive, turned social media/culture/tech guru, Andrews’ current role is CEO of SMASHD Group, a joint venture with the Havas Group and Atom Factory, founded by Lady Gaga’s former manager, Troy Carter. Headquartered in Los Angeles and NYC, The SMASHD Group is composed three core pillars: SMASHD Brand Innovations, a brand consultancy, SMASHD.co, an editorial platform and SMASHD Labs, a startup tech accelerator. This month, the SMASHD group was in town for the A3C Music Conference, and decided to stop by the Usher’s New Look Spark Center to hear about our organization and meet some of our incredible student entrepreneurs. We chatted about social entrepreneurship, investing in businesses of the future, what’s next for the music industry and how Atlanta youth are playing a pivotal role in determining what’s hot in terms of culture for the rest of the world. Students were able to share their dreams, receive advice and network with some of the best in the business.
