WHAT IS THE UNL ‘SPARK Center’?
We surveyed our students and found out 88% do not have a safe space that is conducive to learning after-school and on weekends, and they’re hungering for more experiential learning. So we created The Spark Center, a student-led, global meeting space for expanding, exploring and exposing young minds. A hub for inspiring ideas; igniting imaginations and shifting paradigms that unleash the potential for the next generation of extraordinary innovators. Initiated by our desire to spark more young minds, it’s a student-led, safe space where youth convene to learn, innovate and evolve. It’s free to all high school youth who’ve participated in any UNL program. Located adjacent to our administrative offices in midtown Atlanta, it’s easily accessible to our students and our community volunteers.
To be the center of excellence in exploratory innovative learning for youth on their journey to becoming the next generation of global leaders.
To develop global youth leaders by equipping students with the necessary tools to shape their futures, solve their challenges and build stronger communities.
UNL works with youth from underserved schools and communities. Over 28,000 students reached, 100% UNL Academy students graduate high school, and 98% go on to college or career.
OUR SECRET SAUCE
We meet students where they are. We use a peer-to-peer training model. We connect the disconnected.
