Usher’s New Look Receives Dave Pensado Educator Award for Digital Curriculum

Usher’s New Look is proud to be the recipient of the Dave Pensado Educator Award for our first-ever, digital curriculum for high school students, Music Industry Leadership 101. The Pensado Awards took place on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. The annual award show is the brainchild of Grammy winning mix engineer, Dave Pensado, and veteran manager and executive producer, Herb Trawick, who together produce the acclaimed online video series Pensado’s Place. The Pensado Awards honors talented music producers, engineers and mixers for their work. The event pulls together the best pros, amateurs, brands and press as one community to celebrate the uncelebrated creators within the music industry. The Dave Pensado Educator Award goes to an organization or school doing extraordinary work to teach our youth about the music industry.

Music Industry Leadership 101 emerged on the education scene in 2014, and is taking high schools across the nation by storm. The unique digital course created by Usher Raymond IV’s New Look Organization provides students with an inside look at numerous behind-the-scenes careers in the music industry, with lessons delivered by the industry professionals themselves. Segments range from Marketing with Coca-Cola’s Director of Marketing to Entertainment Law with Usher and Justin Bieber’s lawyer. The class is truly evolving education by allowing students who have interest in music and entertainment to see the endless career possibilities available to them. Knowing where you’re headed or what you plan to study in college makes high school that much more relevant and graduation more obtainable.
